Our students have teamed up with the East of England Co-op and created an environmental campaign after being inspired by the recent COP26 climate change conference.
The project will take place at 向日葵视频 New College Ipswich campus and will see around 20 students on English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses promote and learn about green issues.
To do so, they will use a 拢500.00 donation from the East of England Co-op to find out about fair trade, food miles and they will create their own recycling scheme.
The group will also be purchasing seeds that they will grow to gain knowledge on how to become more sustainable in their lives outside of education.
Head of ESOL at the College, Suzy Haynes, said:
鈥淚t鈥檚 been a busy few months for our ESOL students. Firstly, they took part in a competition as part of where they expressed their love for the county through writing. Then last month, they met up with the MP for Ipswich, Tom Hunt.
鈥淣ow they are making a strong commitment to the environment via this project. We can鈥檛 thank the East of England Co-op enough for their generous donation. Everyone in the group was affected by the COP26 conference and wanted to do something proactive for the environment and we can鈥檛 wait to get started with our campaign,鈥� she added.
Community Engagement Senior Co-ordinator, Lewis Upson, said:

Student, Osman Osman is studying on an entry level two ESOL course. He said:
鈥淚t鈥檚 important to do things for the environment to make the world a safer place.鈥�
